Joe Ledbetter solo show!

This June, join iconic Los Angeles artist Joe Ledbetter for the highly-anticipated debut of Magnus Maximus. A solo exhibition of different stripes, Magnus Maximus is
an epic travel adventure based on Ledbetter’s journeys through Europe and beyond.
For his first solo show at Corey helford Gallery, Ledbetter creates an extraordinary collection of new paintings and drawings, filled with engaging narratives and bold visuals that are as autobiographical as they are a classic hero story. A true tale of wretched victory, Magnus Maximus is a character study in twists of fate and fortune, power and privilege.
“For me, it has cumulatively epitomized everything I’ve been working toward for the past 9 years as a painter. Personal narrative, sardonic or humorous undertones, familiar scenarios, strong shadowed bold lines, bright colors, limited palette, and hopefully great characters one can sympathize and fall in love with.”

Open to the public, the reception for Magnus Maximus will take place on Friday, June 4 from 7 to 10pm, and the show will be exhibited until June 23, 2010 at Corey Helford Gallery, Culver city, LA

Joe Ledbetter's new Octobunny release

1_OctoPromo6

What’s this ?! It’s Joe Ledbetter’s Octobunny. The mutant bunny has made the jump into 2.5D with this brand spankin’ new metal piece featuring two interlocking pieces for a rock-solid distinctive look. As you can see, Octobunny is keeping Ms. Bunny close at hand. This scene is executed precisely through the dual-sided laser engraved design which was produced in metal by Jamie Mathis. Designed by Joe Ledbetter and Henry Loh, this innovative piece pushes the boundary between figure and art object.

Limited to 50 pieces, Octobunny tapes out at roughly 5.25” (Ms. Bunny piece) and 8.75” wide and weighs in at 1.5+ pounds of solid metal. Each Octobunny is stamped with the piece number and comes with a signed and numbered Letterpressed print (6” x 4.75”) on Curious Metallic paper made from the LetterPress plates for the ‘05 cards.

Octobunny droped April the 1st @ Noon PDT for $150 each (+ s/h). To purchase, send an email with your name and shipping address to octobunnymetal@hotmail.com. Only emails received after Noon PDT will be accepted as orders. Paypal invoices will then be sent out to customers. First come, first serve.

Welcome Joe Ledbetter!

Joe Ledbetter will take part of the Urban Superstar Show 2010.
Joe Ledbetter espone a Urban Superstar Show 2010.
Influenced by classic animation, graphic design, cubist art and daily life, Joe Ledbetter‘s art is... well... a lot of things. Light-hearted in its approach, he often combines cute and cuddly creatures with unfortunate — albeit humorous — situations. With a lean on the subversive and absurd, these scenarios are all too familiar, questioning our tendency of taking life (and ourselves) too seriously. While working as a graphic apparel artist for three years, Ledbetter got involved in the LA underground art scene, beginning with group shows like Cannibal Flower. By the summer of 2004, he had honed his trademark visual style of emblematic line-work, vibrant colors, and endearing characters to the point of quitting his day job. His incredible cast of creatures have since been emblazoned on over 100 designer vinyl toys, as well as apparel and lifestyle brands, the world over.
